Conference - Match 13

Khazboss FC 1-9 Real Bad
Scorers:
Evans 1

Back to the simple mistakes
Khazboss started this game poorly. Two simple goals conceded early on after defensive lapses set the the standard for the rest of the match. When playing against top-of-the-table Real Bad, whose only dropped point was a defeat to Khazboss, perhaps a bit more was expected. Khazboss always seemed to be chasing the game, although a good spell during the middle of the game resulted in a goal for Evans and it looked like Khazboss could actually come back. But the defence simply went to sleep then and Real took full advantage, pounding the goal with easy shot after shot. Charnock played a blinder in simply keeping the score down. It could have easily been twenty against. The last fifteen minutes were shocking. Real simply came forward and lined up shots. No challanges, no communication. A poor loss.

Verdict: Complete lack of communication. Yet still only five points off second place.

Ratings:
Charnock: 9 - Pulled off save after save. Kept the score down. Star Man
Ste Murphy: 6 - No communication and was passed too easily too often.
Heron: 8 - Easily the best outfield player. Worked hard and made plenty of tackles.
Scott Murphy: 6 - Ran around a lot but guilty of not talking.
Gregory: 6 - Not talking with the rest of the team, unable to do much up front.
Evans: 7 - No service up front.
Cheverton: 8 - Another hard worker who put the tackles in.

Return to form
At last Khazboss played like they can and have played before. A convincing win against a side languishing near the bottom of the division will surely cause a return of the early season confidence. From the start Khazboss looked up for this game. There was movement and passing, both of which have been lacking for a few games. Moon even had the nerve to go two goals up early on with two wicked deflections. The old Khazboss would have simply carried on the way they were playing and scored three. Lucky this was the old Khazboss playing and with three simple but excelent goals from Evans, Khazboss soon had the acendancy. Moon did have their moments; their keeper played a blinder and they did block quite a few shots. They even brought the game back to three-all and then four-all, But Khazboss never looked like losing this one, and, as Moon got tired, Khazboss simply got stronger. Evans and Gregory found their goalscoring boots, Charnock's gloves became sticky again, Murphy and Heron returned to form and Cheverton found his touch again. The scoreline should have been much more to Khazboss but for the heroics of the keeper and the sturdyness of the post and bar which was hit on at least four occasions. A great win!

Verdict: Played like a team for the first time in four games. Good preperation for Real Bad next week.

Ratings:
Charnock: 9 - Good game. Distribution and saves both decent. Excellent double save early on.
Ste Murphy: 9 - A return to his pre-holiday form.
Heron: 9 - Again, a rock in defence. Some great tackles
Gregory: 9 - Back to form with some cracking goals.
Evans: 9 - Found his goals again. Star Man by a whisker
Cheverton: 9 - Again worked hard but this time everything went for him. Unlucky not to get a goal.

Four on the bounce!
Oh Dear. It just gets worse for Khazboss. A poor performance all round. Dynamo have not collected a single point so far this season but only really looked in danger of dropping points at one point in the game. Khazboss had so much possession and plenty of shots but very few hit the target and most of the possession was wasted. A speculative shot early on through two defenders gave Dymano an early lead before the howler of the season by Charnock who allowed a simple through ball to slip through in the wet conditions into the goal. Another ball easily taken past the defenders gave Dynamo a commanding three nil lead. And yet Khazboss were still walking around with no urgency! The game remained the same with Khazboss keeping the ball but going nowhere and Dynamo breaking through with the occasional shot. Khazboss did begin to score though and eventually brought the game back to three all, but again they stopped play and allowed Dynamo two late goals. This is relagation form.

Verdict: Simply did not gel as a team. This needs to improve drastically if promotion is to even be considered.

Ratings:
Charnock: 5 - Similar story to last week. Mistake early on but made ammends with some good shot stopping.
Ste Murphy: 6 - Slow in defence and uninspiring going forward.
Heron: 8 - Worked hard for the team. Star Man by a mile.
Scott Murphy: 7 - Worked hard again but could not find the right ball or shot
Gregory: 6 - Some good tackles at the back but simply did not play with the team
Evans: 6 - Again, was quiet and uninspiring
John: 5 - Nonexistant in defence and as Scott could not find the right ball in attack
Cheverton: 6 - Worked harfd to rally the team but could not pull it off

The slump continues...
Another defeat to continue Khazboss' recent run of poor form. This was a fairly even game and it was unfortunate that one of the sides took all three points, although Prince could say they had more shots on goal and the Khazboss defence made a number of howlers to allow goals. Khazboss actually started well with some good passing and movement and were ahead twice early only to allow Prince to level the score once with a shot that went through Charnock's legs, and another a schoolboy error by Ste Murphy. Prince then went ahead and took control of the game, peppering the Khazboss goal with shots. However, Charnock, keen to attone for the earlier mistake was equal to the task. Khazboss still managed their good passing game at times, however at others they simply gave the ball away too easily. Strangely though, whilst under the cosh the managed to equalise and then pull ahead. The game looked theirs for the taking. But for the second week running they surrenderd with two unforgivable mistakes at the back to lose in the last minute.

Verdict:
Gave the ball away too many times, get still got the goals. However, form needs to improve to keep on the promotion path.

Ratings:
Charnock: 6 - Good shot stopping but distribution ranged from bad to ok. Daft goal to concede early on.
Ste Murphy: 5 - Gave good attacking options but too many errors in defence.
Scott Murphy: 7 - Work hard throughout. One dreadful psitioning for free kick but otherwise Star Man
Gregory: 7 - Started poorly but then played a good game. Almost a star man performance but for an occasional lack of proffesionalism.
Evans: 6 - Lacking a bit of match practise, scored the goals but was otherwise unusually quiet.
John: 6 - Still adjusting to the game, defensive duites lacking but no more than anyone else
Cheverton: 5 - Poor game. Looked out of position for most of the start and gave the ball away too much. Eventually settled.

So close yet so far
A game that Khazboss should have won or at least taken a point from ended in dissapointment. Khazboss had most of the possesion and most of the shots, while Royale broke forward only six or seven times and scored four times. To cope with the player shortage, a new player, John, was brought in for cover. He was keen to impress and Khazboss played a good, slick passing game and put Royale under a lot of pressure. The Royale keeper played well and pulled off some great saves. However, when Royale did come forward, they seemed to get put the Khazboss defence too easily, and with Charnock not having one of his better games, they were soon 2-0 up. A great finish by John gave Khazboss a glimmer but again the Jekel & Hyde Khazboss defence slipped up to give a commanding lead for Royale. But... How many time have Khazboss gone behind and returned from the dead to draw or win a game? And it happened yet again. Khazboss did not relent the possesion and shots and were soon rewarded with a good goal by Gregory before Scott bundled one in for the equaliser.
This time however, the luck didn't go Khazboss' way and they attacked for only the fifth time and scored easily. Khazboss heads went down and the match was over.

Verdict:
Khazboss had the chances to win this game but sometimes Lady Luck sends her daughter instead, Miss Fortune.

Ratings:
Charnock: 5 - Distribution good but shot stopping unusually poor. Should have done better with at least two of the goals
Heron: 7 - Good display at the back but often seemed alone.
Scott Murphy: 7 - Worked hard for the team. Tried to create. Just edges Heron as Star Man.
Gregory: 5 - Scored a good goal but was otherwise unusually uncreative.
Cheverton: 7 - Another hard worker and creator. Did well.
John: 7 - Did well in his first game. Settled and good on the ball. Scored a good goal.
