Conference - Match 17

Khazboss FC 3-11 Wigan Metrostars
Scorers:

End Of Season Blues
Wigan completed an impressive double over Khazboss with this convincing win. Khazboss started with some tremendous bad luck, two hopeful looking shots took wicked deflections to give Wigan an early lead. Although Khazboss had enough possession, they didn't have enough shots on target to come close to matching Wigan, who were working Charnock very hard with some excellent shooting. Add another wicked deflection and Khazboss were 6-0 down and looking very sorry for themselves. However, to give Khazboss credit, the team remained relatively calm and kept the arguing to a minimum. But this only managed to produce 3 goals in return and with more clinical finishing and yet another wicked deflection, Khazboss left the field having been soundly beaten.

Verdict: Khazboss beaten by their bogey side, but there are signs of improvement.

Ratings:

Charnock: 7 - Good saves but perhaps could have stopped more.
Heron: 7 - Another generally solid performance at the back with a goal to boot.
Ste Murphy: 6 - Was too easily beaten at the back.
Scott Murphy: 6 - Again worked hard but some slack passing lead to goals against.
Evans: 6 - Seems to have lost confidence in fromt of goal.
John: 6 - Again, lack of confidence in the final third of the pitch.
Gregory: 6 - Good individual play to score one and set up two others but otherwise didn't work with the team.

Conference - Match 16

Khazboss FC 3-7 Game
Scorers:
Evans
Heron
Gregory

Bye bye promotion
A sad defeat that should have never happened last night at the JJB almost certantly put down any hopes of a second succesive promotion. Khazboss started well and although two sloppy goals were conceeded early on, Khazboss looked the better side. The score was levelled with a classy goal from Gregory and then another good finish from Heron. The game began to get physical with Evans being kicked all over the place and Cheverton taking a knock but even though Game scored again, Evans pulled one back for Khazboss and they still looked in control. That's when it all fell apart. Khazboss managed to do what Everton did in the week although not quite as spectacularly. The team cohesion simply disappeared and Game had a spell of where they scored four goals in quick succession. The final whistle blew to in-team arguing and frustration for Khazboss.

Verdict: Game won this by taking advantage of Khazboss loss of team spirit not by skill or tacticts. A frustrating loss.

Ratings:
Charnock: 7 - Did all that was asked as keeper but did not keep his cool with the team
Ste Murphy: 6 - A few silly mistakes but no worse than anyone else
Heron: 7 - Made only one error, did a good marking job and scored a good goal. Star Man
Gregory: 6 - Started very well but soon lapsed into individual rather than team play.
Evans: 6 - Was constantly fouled but allowed it to get the better of him.
Cheverton: 5 - Worked hard but allowed the opposition past too easily too many times.
Scott Murphy: 5 - Again worked hard but lost his cool too often

Conference - Match 15

Khazboss FC 12-4 Care Free
Scorers:
Gregory 4
Evans 3
Scott 2
Ste 2
Heron 1

(Care have replaced Sprinfield Whites)

Back to winning ways
An unusual start to this game, due to the petrol situation, Khazboss only had four players turn up at the start, and Care had no recognised goalkeeper or substitutes. However, with the extra man advantage, Care soon took two goal lead and looked comfortable. But the arrival of Gregory saw him put a goal in straight away and suddenly with the numbers even, the game was two-all. A small lapse in concentration by Ste Murphy and then Charnock put Khazboss four-two down but then, with the arrival of Evans and Heron, and still no substitues for Care, Khazboss took the game by the throat. Gregory was outstanding in marshalling the team, while the clever use of substitutes simply tired Care out. They had very few shots and left Charnock with little opportunity to make up for his earlier error, although there was a comical moment of time-wasting, taking advantage of Care lack of understanding of the rules. Charnock simply kept the ball in the area for five minutes before Care realised they had to come and get it! Care may have been a poor side but this should take nothing away from a good Khazboss team performance.

Verdict: A teriffic win. Can they keep it up and slip into the promotion spot?

Ratings:
Charnock: 6 - Had little to do for most of the match. Distributed poorly but organised the defence well.
Heron: 7 - Solid and dependable as usual.
Ste: 7 - Worked well along the left. Scored two and prvided others.
Scott: 7 - Worked hard throughout as usual. Scored a great goal.
Cheverton: 7 - Another hard worker. Unluck not to get on the scoresheet.
Gregory: 8 - Very good communication and some good goals. Star Man
Evans: 8 - As always, score the required goals.

Conference - Match 14

Khazboss FC 4 - 8 Real Mabridge
Scorers:
Evans 2
John 1
Gregory 1

Khazboss continued their poor form in a defeat which featured the first in match delay due to floodlight failure. Khazboss started brightly with Chris and Gregory showing good on the ball skills and a few shots, but on the counter attack Mabridge were deadly and being allowed time to finish clinically and put themselves 2 goals clear. For long periods of the time Khazboss looked the better side with crisp passing and solid defending. But in attack they weren't very penetrative, with little movement and at the back Heron and Charnock were sorely missed
with lapses in concentration allowing space to shot. Without an expert keeper they paid the price. The floodlight failure happenerd with 14 mins left with Khazboss 2-6 down. It looked like Khazboss could escape with an abandonment draw. Though with Khazboss looking the better side for long periods they could maybe get back into it. But after the delay it wasn't to be with the game becoming a bit aggressive from both sides not helped by a leanient referee.

Verdict: Khazboss maybe the better team but they did not produce the team result to prove that.

Ratings
Cheverton: 5 - Tried his best but didn't stop shots from scoring
Evans: 7 - Creative up front and scored two.
Gregory: 7 - Created oppurtunities with individual skill and worked hard. Star Man.
John: 6 - Battled hard and linked play well. Shooting was woeful.
Scott: 5 - Great effort for little production.
Ste: 5 - Not at his best; let too many people passed him.
